Chappell Roan has been putting together an extensive rollout for her new country single titled “The Giver”. She premiered the song on Saturday Night Live, though no official videos of the performance were uploaded. In February, a billboard appeared with the number 620-HOT-TOGO (1-620-468-8646), which gave away you a snippet of the track when you called it. A few weeks later, she finally shared the release date for March 13 at 8pm ET.
Now, she has dropped "The Giver" alongside a lyric video in the style of a late 80s-early 90s Home Shopping Network, with Roan embodying different characters in the likes of “The Plumber”, “The Construction Worker”, or “The Detective”, which gives meaning to the aforementioned publicity stunt. The VHS shots were done by Ryan Lee Clemons, and the creative direction was handled by Ramisha Sattar and Kayleigh Rose Amstutz.

Roan shared her thoughts about the process and promotion of the new country pop tune on an Instagram post, "I love this song so much and it’s been such a fun rollout to see the bus benches and billboards and posters and tear-offs wow I am so excited for all of it to come to life," she wrote.
She also expressed the pressure to publish a track like this after her gigantic success:
It is def a bold and scary move to release a full ass country song after only releasing one song last year and it having such a success in the pop genre .. (like I am very scared as I type this lol) but I think that’s the entire point of chappell roan. Be bold and scary and have fun. be popstar girl then pop an edible +watch YouTube vibes . The whole point of this is to be silly !!!
And encouraged listeners unfamiliar with country to give the song a try:
"Country music is fire. It’s the campiest of camp. some of you may be new to the country scene and not quite sure what to make of me having a fiddle and banjo in my song. Understandable boo ¨̮ it is something different and sometimes different can feel bad because it’s unfamiliar, but I encourage you to give her another shot ;)"
