LA-based ambient/experimental artist Cate Kennan has today announced her second album Shadows, out June 26 via legendary indie label kranky (Grouper, Niecy Blues). Like 2022's The Arbitrary Dimension of Dreams, it's entirely self-produced. Two songs are available to hear now – the new single "Devil's Hour" and the album's longest track, "So Far Away."

Kennan says in a press release that the album was inspired by returning to the rustic neighbourhood she grew up in, northwest of LA, and the sense of dislocation she felt "wandering through a place where my life once existed but where everything had quietly shifted with time," adding “What began as a period of nostalgia for me turned into a longing, not for the past, for a place that might exist somewhere beyond the horizon.”
