Following her guest appearance on Shura's recent single "Richardson", Cassandra Jenkins has lent her voice to a reworked version of the Frànçois & The Atlas Mountains song "Le Fil" ("The Thread").
Originally released on the Southern France-based band's eighth album Âge Fleuve, which dropped in January, the new version of "Le Fil" came about during a spontaneous studio session while Jenkins was in Paris last autumn.
As she explains in the accompanying press release:
"We wrote the new lyrics while I was on tour across Europe and explored ideas around what connects us with the people we love when we're far apart. It was such a thrill to feed off of each others' ideas and stitch together lyrics across languages – putting a feeling into words is inherently a translation, and working with French and English gave us that much more to draw from and play with."
The band's François Marry adds:
"Cassandra's velvety voice weaves the missing thread between 'Le Fil' and the English-speaking world. What a privilege to give a second life in English to this romantic escape."
