Cass McCombs releases surprise album of archival material

Just as he's released his previously announced reissue of an early EP and two full albums (Not the Way, A, and PREfection, respectively, all out now) from the beginnings of his career, singer-songwriter Cass McCombs just surprise-dropped a new album.

Seed Cake on Leap Year is a compilation of previously unreleased material from McCombs's earliest years of his career. The recordings on Seed Cake on Leap Year actually predate the release of Not the Way, which was his first official release back in 2002. They were recorded in 1999 and 2000, in San Francisco with Jason Quever of the Papercuts.

In addition to the release, McCombs has put out three videos for three of its songs. Watch all of those below:

McCombs is also about to embark on a short tour, with a handful of shows in California and the Northeast. Find those dates here.

Seed Cake on Leap Year is out now digitally; physical editions will be released on November 8 via Domino. You can pre-order those here.
