Camera Obscura share 'Look to the Demos' EP ahead of European tour

Released back in May, Camera Obscura’s Look to the East, Look to the West was the first new music from the Glaswegian indie-pop band in over a decade. It was also an introduction to new band member Donna Maciocia, who had the difficult job of replacing the band’s long-time keyboardist Carey Lander, who lost her life to bone cancer at far too young an age in October 2015.

New EP Look to the Demos – previously only available as a bonus CD included with the Rough Trade exclusive version of the album – offers another look at five of the songs, shedding light on their earliest forms. “I wrote a lot of these songs at the kitchen table watching the activity of two blackbirds,” says vocalist Tracyanne Campbell in a press release, calling those days “an inspired springtime” and “probably the most consistent period of songwriting in one place I’ve ever managed.”
