Britney Spears has reportedly inked a major new music deal, selling her ownership stake in her catalog to publishing company Primary Wave.
According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Spears signed the agreement on December 30. The amount is undisclosed, but sources described it as a “landmark deal,” with TMZ suggesting it could land in the same general neighborhood as Justin Bieber’s reported $200 million catalog sale.
The deal covers a huge chunk of the hits that defined her pop run, including: "...Baby One More Time”, “Oops!... I Did It Again”, “Toxic”, “Gimme More”, “I’m a Slave 4 U”, “Stronger”, and many more.
TMZ also notes that Spears, who is managed by Cade Hudson, is said to be happy with the sale and has been spending time with her kids.
Spears now joins the growing wave of major artists cashing in on their catalogs in recent years, alongside names like Bieber, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Neil Young, Shakira, KISS, Sting, Phil Collins, and Stevie Nicks — who sold an 80% stake of her publishing to Primary Wave in 2020, reportedly valued at around $100 million at the time.
