Around 9:30pm last night in Ventura County, California, Britney Spears was arrested for a DUI according to law enforcement that spoke to TMZ. The singer was booked by the sheriff's department around 3am and released from jail at 6am today.

At the time the California Highway Patrol pulled her over in Westlake Village, Spears was driving alone and close to home. She was immediately taken to a hospital to determine her blood alcohol content and reportedly had no injuries.

A rep for the 44-year-old singer said in a statement that "this was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable." The statement went:

"Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time. Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being."

Spears has also recently deactivated her Instagram page. The singer is due to appear in court on May 4th.
