Bright Eyes and Cursive share mashup track “Recluse I Don’t Have To Love”

Following a recent tour announcement, Omaha indie rock icons Bright Eyes and Cursive have shared their latest collaboration, “Recluse I Don’t Have To Love”, a mashup of two fan-favorite tracks – check it out right here:

The single remixes “Lover I Don’t Have to Love” off of Bright Eyes’ 2002 album Lifted or The Story Is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground, with Cursive’s “The Recluse”, the fourth track off of their 2003 album, The Ugly Organ. Both tracks were originally released on Saddle Creek Records at the height of Omaha's early-2000s indie wave. The remix can be purchased through either Bright Eyes or Cursive’s Bandcamp pages.

The release of “Recluse I Don’t Have To Love” coincides with the National Trans Day of Visibility. All proceeds from the track will be donated to Bright Eyes’ non-profit Poison Oak Project, an initiative dedicated to supporting local and national LGBTQ+ advocacy groups. The charity emphasizes a focus on the trans community by ensuring legal advocacy, direct aid, and general support to individuals and organizations.

The upcoming tour will provide further support for the Poison Oak Project, with assistance from PLUS1 and Propeller, who partner with venues and artists to help promote non-profit causes. Tour dates can be found down below.
