Leading artists from across disciplines have come together to raise funds for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF UK), also known as Doctors Without Borders, through a major online art auction and exhibition. More than 250 art pieces will be available to bid on to support the organization’s humanitarian work in Palestine.
Among the artists who donated artworks are musician Brian Eno, Los Angeles-based singer and cellist Kelsey Lu, and British songwriter and producer Alison Goldfrapp (of the electronic pop duo Goldfrapp). The vast list of contributing artists also spans the fields of literature, architecture, art, and engineering.
In a press statement, Dr. Natalie Roberts, Executive Director of MSF UK said, “We are deeply moved and grateful for the generosity of this collective of artists who have come together to support the work of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT)."
Roberts went on:
"Their creativity and commitment are a testament to the power of art to inspire compassion and solidarity. These funds will have a direct impact on our ability to provide immediate life-saving medical care to some of the most marginalized people in society.”
The MSF is a non-governmental, international organization aiming to provide medical assistance and clean water to Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. All proceeds from the auction will go towards the organization’s emergency response to the humanitarian crisis in Palestine.
Online bidding begins on November 18th on the fundraiser’s website and runs through December 1st. The in-person exhibition will open on November 22nd in London. You can preview the original art pieces—like a blood drawing on paper by Antony Gormley OBE RA and a vinyl record of audio field recordings recorded in 2008 by artist Georgina Starr in Palestine—on the Artist Fundraiser for MSF’s Instagram page.
