Boy Harsher's Augustus Muller and Cooper B. Handy (LUCY) have started a new project called Safe Mind. The duo have unveiled their first song, "6' Pole".
Listen to the track below:
Safe Mind sounds like the predictable outcome of Boy Harsher's previous collaboration with Handy for their horror film/album project The Runner (Original Soundtrack). Handy played "The Teenager" in the movie and did the lead vocals – plus wholesome dance moves – on the impossibly catchy single "Autonomy".
It appears this infectious connection was well worth exploring further, even though Handy's whimsical pop instincts seem at odds with Muller's more methodical approach to producing. "6' Pole" proves the magic was no fluke, roaming within that same stylistic wavelength as "Autonomy" – Handy's lyrics and vocal delivery exploring more dejected and melancholic territories.
Muller's beloved electro-goth outfit Boy Harsher – which he founded alongside Jae Matthews – continue to be a steady touring machine in the wake of The Runner. The band have recently announced a South American tour. Cooper B. Handy has been his usually prolific self, both solo and with his punk outfit Taxidermists. This year he has announced a collaborative project with with Surf Gang, the collective that features fellow producers Evilgiane and Ccured. Last year, Handy released a superb full-length Bridge Underwater as one half of Club Casualties, his project with fellow artist Nick Atkinson.
With the release of "6' Pole", Safe Mind will go on a short but snappy five-date tour across the US. See all the dates below.
