Bon Iver returns with their fifth studio album, titled SABLE fABLE. It’s out April 11th via Jagjaguwar.
SABLE fABLE was produced by bandleader Justin Vernon and Jim-E Stack. Vernon recorded it at his Eau Claire, Wisconsin studio, April Base. The album features guest appearances from Dijon, Flock of Dimes, and Danielle Haim.
A new single, "Everything Is Peaceful Love", arrives this Friday, 2/14. To accompany the single, Bon Iver will release a music video shot and edited by John Wilson, of HBO's How To with John Wilson.
SABLE fABLE follows last year’s SABLE EP, which marked a return to Bon Iver’s acoustic, folk-inspired sound. The three songs from SABLE – "THINGS BEHIND THINGS BEHIND THINGS" "S P E Y S I D E," and "AWARDS SEASON" – are included on the full length, making up the opening triplet. Revisit SABLE below:
Press materials describe the new record as such:
"Like fables, each track instills a lesson, and fABLE is about the selfless rhythm required when one is enmeshed with another person or lover–a patient commitment to finding the pace for betterness, and togetherness. Gone are the evasive and dense layers of sound that guarded Justin Vernon’s voice on i,i and 22, A Million. The previous four albums were a cycle of seasons that is now complete; SABLE, fABLE is a canvas for truth laid bare."
It's been a long time since the last full-length from Justin Vernon and company, 2019’s I, I. Since then, Justin Vernon has collaborated on songs with Taylor Swift, Zach Bryan, The National, and The Japanese House.
