Blackpink's Lisa launches comic book company ahead of debut album 'Alter Ego'

Following her acting debut on the third season of The White Lotus (currently airing on HBO), rapper and singer Lisa is gearing up for her upcoming debut album Alter Ego with the launch of Lalisa Comics, a comic book company in partnership with Zero Zero Entertainment.

The company kickoffs with ALTER-EGO: THE OFFICIAL COMIC, a book inspired by Lisa’s solo debut record of the same name. The story follows Vixi, a reserved tech genius, who gets trapped in a virtual reality nightmare. Her four friends (Roxi, Kiki, Sunni, and Speedi), each embodying different personalities, dive into the digital world to rescue her. The limited edition comic was written by Lisa and illustrated by the Japanese artist MINOMIYABI.

The K-pop star joins the wide range of musicians expanding their musical worlds and narratives through comics. Last year, Zero Zero Entertainment partnered with Metro Boomin and BoyWithUke on their respective comic series. Led by CEO Josh Frankel, they’ve also collaborated with the likes of Grateful Dead, Elvis, Broken Social Scene, and Cypress Hill, among other iconic musicians, on graphic novels inspired by their musical origins.

Lisa’s literary endeavor follows the five personas referenced in her debut album, set for release on February 28 via LLOUD Co./RCA Records. Each song in the record will represent a different sound and alter ego. Following the release of Alter Ego, she’s set to return to Coachella in April (where she headlined as part of BLACKPINK in 2023), this time as a solo act.
