Global pop stars LISA of Blackpink and Rosalía have released their first collaboration “New Woman”, the K-pop star’s second single since launching her music label LLoud earlier this year. The song dropped with a lush music video marking LISA’s new era as a solo artist.
In the song, LISA energetically sings about rediscovering a new version of herself, from adopting a new appearance to listening to her mind’s cues. Watch the video below:
The Dave Meyers-directed video, which reached one million views on YouTube in under its first hour of release, follows the singer through alternating fashion and flashing prismatic auras, or versions of herself as she sings: “Hit it when I serve / Bitch, you better swerve / Revving up my, uh-uh-uh-uh-aura.”
Halfway through the song, Rosalía breaks through the pop rhythm, singing in Spanish, “Yo estoy enfocá', no presiona na’” (“I’m focused, nothing pressures me”), as the video flips through the singers’ images.
The track was co-written by Swedish singer-songwriter Tove Lo and produced by Max Martin and Ilya, two pop heavyweights behind songs like Ariana Grande’s “Problem” and Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off”.
The global singers have raved about each other in previous interviews, like in 2023, when LISA told Spotify’s Billions Club series that the Grammy-award-winning artist was her “dream collaboration.” The duo began teasing “New Woman” last week with snippets of the song and video on Instagram.
LISA began her career as a member of the K-pop supergroup Blackpink and launched her solo pursuit in 2021. Her most recent single “Rockstar” debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 list.
Though no official word for when her next album will be released, LISA is set to perform for the first time at a music festival as a solo artist on September 28th at the Global Citizen Festival in New York.
