Legendary guitarist Tony Iommi, formerly of Black Sabbath, announced his first solo album in over two decades. The new project, From the Dark, will be released everywhere on October 23rd via BMG.

Credited with crafting the sound and dynamics of heavy metal alongside the late Ozzy Osborne, Iommi is not stopping his creative output after the emotional Sabbath sendoff.

Earlier today, Iommi released the first single from the new album, "World Alone," alongside an accompanying video. The song features vocals and lyrics from Norwegian songwriter John Lande, who also shares writing credits across the latest project.

Lande's operatic voice lends a passageway for thunderous guitar riffs from Iommi, who's joined by a tour-de-force of backing instrumentalists including bassist Becky Baldwin, drummer Karl Brazil, and keyboardist Mike Exeter. The video features a dystopian, retrofuturist world led by a tragic protagonist, thrown into a twisted video game in order to find salvation.
