Beyoncé's BeyGOOD foundation donates $2.5 million to L.A. wildfire relief

In response to the wildfires sweeping across Los Angeles, Beyoncé's non-profit foundation BeyGOOD has donated $2.5 million dollars to impacted families and communities. Funding is earmarked for individuals, churches, and community centers in the Altadena and Pasadena areas.

Beyonce's mother, Tina Knowles, has also lost her home to the fires. Updates via her Instagram have helped point her followers to emergency shelters and other regional organizations that are collecting donations and recruiting volunteers.

The wildfires, which began on Tuesday, January 7th, have already forced over 150,000 residents to evacuate. Five concurrent fires have engulfed the neighborhoods of Eaton, Hurst, Woodley, Lidia, and the Palisades. The BeyGOOD foundation will focus much of its relief effort on the historic Black neighborhood of Altadena, which continues to burn due to dry weather conditions and the Santa Ana winds.

Mrs. Knowles also commented on the wildfire's destruction, including the rising death toll:

“I’m so sad for the people who lost the five family members. My deepest prayers are with you! To the people who lost their homes and belongings, I can only imagine how it feels to lost properties and everything you own!”

Founded in 2013, BeyGOOD's mission focuses on enabling economic support for under-funded public programs and marginalized communities. The charity provides educational scholarships, internship opportunities, and access to resources for entrepreneurs and small businesses throughout the US and beyond. They promoted Black-owned businesses impacted by the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, and have previously aided the United Nations during the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. In 2016, BeyGOOD provided over $80,000 to address the water crisis in Flint, MI, and as of the 2025 L.A. wildfires, they have ramped-up their philanthropic work with their largest donation to date.

Individual donations to BeyGOOD can be made through their website.
