Ben Folds Five announce 2027 tour, their first since 2012

Ben Folds Five have announced a run of nine dates across the South in 2027, their first full tour since 2012. The trio, made up of Ben Folds on piano and vocals, bassist Robert Sledge, and drummer Darren Jessee, will open the run on April 12 at the Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville, Tennessee, with additional shows still to be announced.

A presale for tickets begins on Thursday, October 22 at 10am local time, with general sale on Friday, October 23 at 10am local time. You can sign up for presale access here, and when tickets are live you can grab them here.

The tour follows last month’s announcement of a 30th anniversary edition of the band’s self-titled debut, Ben Folds Five. In the liner notes for that reissue, Folds reflects on making the album when he was 28, and on how its sound reflects a time before computers let bands polish every detail.

The Ben Folds Five formed in 1993 and released three albums before parting ways in 2000. They reconvened in the studio in 2011 and toured the following year before moving on to other projects. After the 2023 death of Caleb Southern, who produced their first three albums, the band played a few songs together at a concert in his honor, but they haven’t mounted a full run of shows since 2012.

The nine announced dates on the run are below:

04/12 Knoxville, TN @ Tennessee Theatre
04/13 Chattanooga, TN @ Tivoli Theatre
04/15 Jacksonville, FL @ Florida Theatre
04/16 Pompano Beach, FL @ Pompano Beach Amphitheater
04/17 Clearwater, FL @ The BayCare Sound
04/20 Austin, TX @ ACL Live at The Moody Theater
04/21 Houston, TX @ 713 Music Hall
04/22 Irving, TX @ The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory
04/24 Birmingham, AL @ Avondale Brewing Company
