Five years on from her last album Waysides, Syrian-American artist Bedouine, aka Azniv Korkejian, is back with news of her fourth LP, Neon Summer Skin, coming June 5 via her new label home of Thirty Tigers.
Lead single "Long Way to Fall" is a woozy piano-led pop song about longing for the closeness she once had with a family member who later struggled with addiction. "I was feeling lonely for their company," she says. "I wanted so badly for us to show up for each other like we had when we were younger and things were more simple."

Speaking on the video, Korkejian says:
"For me it represents the difference between a close sibling-like relationship at a very young age versus one as adults. It's no longer as simple as roughhousing one minute and playing the next. It's more delicate. You have to respect each other's space even when you'd rather shake someone awake.”
Inspired by a return visit to her childhood home in Saudi Arabia, Neon Summer Skin is full of Korkejian's stories of her own family, many of whom had been displaced by war and other strife.
“For my 20s and much of my 30s, I couldn’t sit still,” she says, adding:
“I was so curious about my own independence that it just didn't occur to me for the longest time to mourn the past. But after that trip to Saudi Arabia, I came home and was so devastated. I couldn't place the feeling immediately, but as I started writing, I realized I was processing that I wasn’t ready to stop being somebody’s kid.”
Neon Summer Skin was co-produced for the most part by Korkejian and her longtime collaborator Gus Seyffert, with additional contributions by The Lemon Twigs and producer Jonathan Rado, and expands the signature Bedouine sound with a more playful approach that touches on psychedelia, jazz, and bossa nova.
