After teasing for about a week or so, Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny has been officially announced as the headline performer for next year's Super Bowl XL Halftime Show.

The famed halftime show, presented by Apple Music and executive produced by Jesse Collins, will air live February 8, 2026, from Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

The NFL made the official announcement Sunday during the Sunday Night Football game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers.

In a statement, via Billboard, the reggaeton firebrand confirmed the news:

“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.”

Prior to the official announcement, Bad Bunny — born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio — wrote on the platform formerly known as Twitter that he only has one show planned for the United States:

“Estuve pensando en estos días, y luego de hablarlo con mi equipo, creo que haré una sola fecha en Estados Unidos,” he wrote, which translates in English to, “I’ve been thinking about it these days, and after discussing it with my team, I think I’ll do just one date in the United States.”

Earlier this year, Bad Bunny announced that he'd be skipping the U.S. on his upcoming DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS world tour due to the threat of potential ICE raids.

In an interview with i-D, the artist elaborated, “There were many reasons why I didn’t show up in the U.S., and none of them were out of hate—I’ve performed there many times. All of the shows have been successful. All of them have been magnificent,” he explained. “But there was the issue of — like, fucking ICE could be outside [my concert].”

Roc Nation, who has partnered with the NFL since 2019 to curate the Super Bowl Halftime Show, issued a statement of their own, with founder Jay Z congratulating Bad Bunny on his first-ever appearance.

“What Benito has done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring,” said Jay-Z in a statement. “We are honored to have him on the world’s biggest stage.”
