Zambian-Canadian rapper and producer Backxwash has revealed "9th Heaven", the second single off of her recently announced new album Only Dust Remains.

Like predecessor "WAKE UP", "9th Heaven" leans on a more sample-based sound to support Backxwash's incandescent lyricism; the song literally ascends into a more breakbeat direction in its final act.

The track also signifies a gradual shift in Polaris Prize-winning artist's work. On I Lie Here Buried With My Rings and My Dresses, we found Backxwash still at the apex of her despair. But on fourth full-length – Halloween-released His Happiness Shall Come First Even Though We Are Suffering – Backxwash combined that heaviness with more versatile production smarts. Only Dust Remains promises to balance the light and the dark more evenly, touching on themes of mourning, reflection, and hope, exploring them with a sincerity and depth in her storytelling.
