Ashanti Mutinta, aka Backxwash, has officially announced her new album Only Dust Remains, which arrives March 28th via her own label Ugly Hag. The album features "Wake Up", the Zambian-Canadian rapper and producer's previous standalone single.

The 2020 Polaris Prize winner crafted an impressive discography in 5 years, from the sample-based God Has Nothing to Do With This Leave Him Out of It (2020), the digitized, black metal influenced I Lie Here Buried With My Rings and My Dresses (2021), and His Happiness Shall Come First Even Though We Are Suffering (2022), where elements of gospel, industrial, and West-African folk, expanding her sound and production chops further. Backxwash has also collaborated with artists as diverse as Algiers, Ghais Guevara, Ada Rook (Black Dresses), Lauren Bousfield and Pupil Slicer.
Backxwash promises a new direction from her previous trilogy on Only Dust Remains, bringing a more "complex, word-heavy, and poetic" lyrical depth. Backxwash also revealed that the next new song and pre-order announcement will be unveiled next month.
Backwash has listed the following four festival dates so far, although likely more live shows will be added as the album campaign progresses. Check them out below:
