Avicii’s personal equipment to be auctioned in support of mental health charity

Swedish auction house AuktionVerks - the world’s oldest institution of its kind - has announced a charity event for the personal effects of the late DJ and producer, Avicii. 267 items, including musical instruments, clothing, and rare memorabilia, will be auctioned off on October 1st, 2024 with all proceeds going to the Tim Bergling Foundation

The Tim Bergling Foundation was named in honor of the late artist and founded in 2018 by his parents, Klas Bergling and Anki Lidén. Their son's loss sparked a desire to help others struggling with mental health issues, striving for “a society where children and young people feel well, secure, confident, and have the opportunity to reach their full potential.”

The foundation was established in 2019 and advocates for the official recognition of a global mental health crisis, and regularly works with schools to remove the stigma of related issues among young people.

Avicii’s musical legacy serves as the core draw of the foundation's operations, with the upcoming charity coming on the heels of various projects recognizing his life’s work. Last June, the biographical documentary I’m Tim, directed by Henrik Burman, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, and a newly published photobook, Avicii: The life and music of Tim Bergling, unveiled previously unseen pictures from throughout the artist’s life.

The foundation also holds their annual festival, Together For A Better Day, at the Avicii Arena in Stockholm, where fans under 25-years old are offered discounted ticket pricing in honor of the foundation's youth-oriented goals.

AuktionVerks CEO Cecilia Gave commented on the upcoming auction, saying:

"Tim Bergling touched countless people worldwide and continues to do so both through his music and the foundation the family has established in his name. It's a true honour to support The Tim Bergling Foundation to help even more young people. We have 350 years of experience passing on the artifacts of some of history's most prominent cultural figures and consider it a privilege."

A catalog detailing the auction’s items will be published through the official AuktionVerks website on September 6th. Each piece has been donated directly by Tim Bergling’s family in hopes of raising funds and recognition for his namesake foundation.
