ICYMI, after a couple of years away, Courtney Love is finally back on Instagram. It's been a delight for fans to be able to appreciate her unserious self once again – case in point, this video of her talking about Geese – but yesterday she drew even more attention with a post hinting at a Hole reunion tour.
The post in question features a video of former Hole bassist, Melissa Auf der Maur. The duo has been constantly posting pictures together since Love's return to Instagram. In the caption of Auf der Maur's video, she wrote: "So do we tell the kids about the tour?" To which the bassist responded: "It starts with eternal love…".
Now, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Courtney Love has hinted at a Hole reunion for years now. Love, Auf der Maur, Patty Schemel, and Eric Erlandson even got together to play small shows a couple of times since disbanding in the 2000s. In 2021, she told Vogue a reunion was off the table, even going so for as saying Erlandson was off-the-grid. "I think he’s in Japan literally becoming a monk," she said at the time.
But, in this new Instagram era, Love seems more vivacious than ever and even posted a photo of herself and Auf der Maur at the studio. A documentary on Love's life, Antiheroine, also just premiered at Sundance, so she has plenty of reason to be in the center of some media attention.
Maybe she just wants to tease us. Maybe they mean a book tour, since Auf der Maur's memoir Even the Good Girls Will Cry: A 90s Rock Memoir is coming out later this month. But let's keep our hopes up, right? After all, 2026 marks 35 years of Hole's debut Pretty On the Inside. Maybe something good is coming. Maybe.
What do you think?
