Ão share hot-blooded new song "Talvez"

Belgium-based alternative pop outfit Ão have released "Talvez" (Portuguese for "maybe"), the first new material since releasing debut LP Ao Mar back in 2023. It's the first taste of a yet-to-be officially announced followup.

Watch the video for "Talvez", directed by Michiel Venmans, below.

Ão consists of Brenda Corijn (vocals), Siebe Chau (guitars, keys), Jolan Decaestecker (bass, keys), Bert Peyffers (percussion). Their songs feature a blend of saudade, alternative pop, Latin, and electronica – sung by Corijn in both Portuguese and English, drawing from her Mozambican-Portuguese roots.

"Talvez" materialised in transit. Right after the band took a month off, they reunited on tour in Slovenia. During that break, Corijn had sought refuge in Brazil. "I told the others: I can only truly relax if I leave with the idea that I'm never coming back," Corijn says of the song. "When I emailed Siebe from there, he briefly thought I really wasn't coming back."

According to the band, this bout of uncertainty organically expanded into the much bigger theme of never being able to truly escape one's past – even entire ocean's apart. "Just when she thinks she's gone for good, she runs into someone from her past. Someone who still knows her as she was. And suddenly she's back there — in that place within herself from which she just tried to flee."

Though no official release date for the new album – or further details – have been revealed, Ão have however revealed that it'll arrive at the beginning of 2026. The band will perform some European shows over the summer, which you can check out below:
