Anthony Kiedis launches coffee brand JOLENE

Anthony Kiedis, frontman of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, has announced the launch of JOLENE, a coffee company he co-founded with longtime friend Shane Powers. Backed by Live Nation as an equity investor, JOLENE already has an in with major distribution — it'll be available at Live Nation festivals and all 40 of their amphitheaters.

In an interview with Forbes, Kiedis shared what sparked the idea for JOLENE:

“Shane and I wanted to do something fun together that we could enjoy life together doing. We weren’t going to come up with a computer chip for alien intelligence. Instead, we decided to get in a kitchen and figure out the best possible approach to selling coffee so that we could take trips and go to high-altitude coffee farms and hang out with farmers and drink coffee and make mistakes and breathe the morning fog.”

As of now, JOLENE is offering two products: a cold brew (for the purists) and an oat milk latte. No word yet on whether a chili pepper-flavored brew is in the works, but hey, it’d be on brand — just maybe not for your taste buds.

And no, they’re not just going to “give it away, give it away, give it away now” — these cans start at $32.99 for a 12-pack on their website.
