Anna B Savage previews third album 'You & i are Earth' with new single "Agnes"

Fresh off a European tour opening for St. Vincent, Anna B Savage has announced that her third album, You & i are Earth, will arrive on 24 January via City Slang Records. The London-born singer-songwriter, now based in northwest Ireland, describes the record as "a love letter" to the Emerald Isle and to the man she's shared her life with for the past few years. Preorder the album here.

Produced by John 'Spud' Murphy, whose previous credits include black midi's Cavalcade and all three Lankum records, You & i are Earth features Irish musicians Anna Mieke, Crash Ensemble's Kate Ellis and Caimin Gilmore, and Lankum's Cormac MacDiamarda.

Mieke can be heard on backing vocals in lead single "Agnes", out today, which Savage says is based on an unsettling but ultimately magical experience she had during meditation: "I felt like I was part of the earth, completely connected to the mycelium network, I felt like I was where I was meant to be.”

Watch Savage's self-directed and edited video below:

In an accompanying press release, Savage writes that the process of making You & i are Earth was propelled by a newfound sense of calm, in stark contrast to her 2021 debut A Common Turn, which she toiled over for years, and a progression from last year's in|FLUX, saying:

“when I was writing the first record, it felt difficult. I wanted to make sense of something I didn’t really understand. Then with the second record I had done some therapy, and was getting to grips with myself, but my old self was still pulling me back a bit, but with this one it was quite different”.
