Anamanaguchi announce new record, drop first single "Darcie"

Self-proclaimed chiptune pioneers Anamanaguchi have announced their new record Anyway, which is expected August 8th, 2025 through Polyvinyl Record Co. The lead single "Darcie" is available now, along with an accompanying music video directed by Jared Raab.

Watch it below:

Guitarist/vocalist Peter Berkman provided some context on the new single:

It's a thank you song. You might have somebody in your life that makes it their business to make things better for you, and a lot of times those people go unnoticed because they’re not doing it to be noticed. It’s easy to pay attention to people that make you mad–but it’s more rewarding to hype up the people that make you happy. It’s cool that we get to have songs that are about things now.

Anyway was written with the entire band together in a living room-turned-practice space, which happened to be in the famed American Football house, before it was produced, recorded, and mixed by Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, MGMT, Sleater-Kinney) at Tarbox Road Studios. The band wanted to switch things up on this new release, choosing to record everything live to tape, and using vintage gear, which included a rare set of Marshall guitar cabinet speakers from the late-1960s (previously used by Nirvana, Jimi Hendrix, and Weezer).

Anamanaguchi will also be playing a surprise, free show tonight (5/6) at New York City's Night Club 101, which can be RSVP'd to here.
