American Football Vans collab quickly sells out

25 years after Mike Kinsella, Steve Holmes, and Steve Lamos officially came together in Champaign, Illinois, to form American Football, the band was celebrated for their accomplishments with an official collaboration with OTW by Vans and Authentic 44, and needless to say, they sold out quickly.

Announcing the collaboration on social media with a special exhibit at The American Football House in Champaign featuring skateboarding, a house show, and appearances by the band, Hayley Williams, Yvette Young, and Novo Amor, over 73 thousand fans linked the post, with many preparing for the 2pm CST drop on the band's official merch story to snag a pair of low tops.

For some, that pursuit was successful, but based on the comments on American Football's Instagram page, which itself has over 66 thousand likes, many were not, with fans grieving over their lost pairs, blasting the entire operation for poor planning and noting that the release is destined to be resold for $400 by prospective scalpers.

While American Football hasn't commented on the release, they did include the following note on the website informing fans that shoes could become available again in the future.

NOTE: Is your size out of stock? Copy and paste this link into a new tab to be notified if it becomes available again: https://ffm.link/vans-oos-size-req

Unfortunately, the link included was actually broken, a fact fans pointed out on social media, which leaves any future restocks of the incredibly popular shoes very much up in the air.
