A.A. Williams shares new song “Splinter” ahead of debut US headline tour

To celebrate the start of her first headline US tour, which kicks off tomorrow (12 September) in Somerville, MA, post-rock singer/songwriter Alex “A.A.” Williams has released a one-off single, “Splinter”, through the UK’s Robot Needs A Home collective. It’s her first new material since her 2022 album, As The Moon Rests, and follows last year’s cover of Placebo’s “Without You I’m Nothing”, released through Bella Union Records.

Williams most recently toured the US as the opening act for masked alt metal band Sleep Token on their Rituals Tour.

Produced by Matt de Burgh Daly, “Splinter” is a song that Williams says “really means a lot” to her, adding:

“We so often avoid looking inwards, distracting ourselves with temporary fixes, concerning ourselves with effect not cause. We smooth over the surface, burying complexities and ignoring our emotions until one day we burst, we snap, we break apart. ‘Splinter’ is a song of realisation, of recognising that things have gone too far, of seeing that we finally need to acknowledge how we feel in order to grow.”

Fans attending the upcoming tour can expect to hear “Splinter” live, as William says she’s looking forward to “finally bringing it to life.” Full list of dates below:
