A Place to Bury Strangers release their infernal new track "Bad Idea"

New York noise rockers A Place to Bury Strangers preview their upcoming album Synthesizer – out October 4th via Dedstrange – with new song "Bad Idea".

"Bad Idea" was hatched by bass player John Fedowitz. “He came to the studio with a simple looping drum beat, thinking he didn’t have any good ideas—thus, the song was his ‘bad idea,’” says frontman Oliver Ackermann. “We each penned some lines on paper, and he sang the ones that resonated. After a few instrumental passes, the recording was complete. The result is an innovative track born from spontaneous collaboration and a touch of self-doubt, turned into something uniquely captivating.”

Listen and watch the video, created by Nick Kulp, below:

Synthesizer comes with a rather fun premise: Ackermann actually built his very own synthesizer to not only accommodate the sound of the record, but to, well, be the very album cover itself (!). It's the goofy noisenik equivalent of Cosmo Kramer making a coffee table book that serves as an actual coffee table, and suffice it to say, we are here for it.

Watch Ackermann demonstrate the synth below:

Synthesizer was written in the band’s Queens studio shortly after the release of See Through You. The record introduces the band's new lineup of Ackermann, John Fedowitz and Sandra Fedowitz. A Place to Bury Strangers are still the loud, torrential perfect organism of their heyday, reinvented anew with fresh fervor.

You can preorder Synthesizer here. The album will enjoy a physical vinyl release on October 25th.
