Remaining basically silent since 2009’s A Ways Away, Tara Jane O’Neil is now ready to return. Her new record (and first on Kranky) is called Where Shine New Lights, and the first track to drop from it, “Wordless in Woods,” is a beautiful, ambient-minded slow-mo ripple of a song. Distant and still, with a twinge of eeriness, O’Neil clearly knows how to hold attention despite the sound she’s making being so quiet.
