New York indie rock outfit TV On the Radio has a brand new single out, and it’s much punchier than many of the tracks from the very smooth Nine Types of Light they dropped a few years ago. Actually, I’d call “Mercy” an incredibly driving song, fueled by speedy dance drums and downstroked guitars. It’s really the sharp lead vocal melody that captivates throughout this thing, though. Is it me, or is there a bit of a new wave thing going on with this track? Devo, maybe?
