Har Mar Superstar - "Lady, You Shot Me"

Singer-songwriter Har Mar Superstar–a.k.a. Sean Tillmann, Sean Na Na–is a dude that’s difficult to put into works. While he’s not the only musical revivalist working in the industry today. he’s certainly more convincing than your average neo-new waver thanks to his passionate voice and full embrace of the stylistic kitsch that came with the soul, funk, and disco movement of the 60s and 70s. While his passion for this era is clear, he also seems to be fully aware of how preposterous “reviving” a style of music can be. He’s certainly gotten his yucks on numerous album and single covers he’s fronted his music with over the years, but songwriting seems to be a pretty serious, focused effort for Har Mar. The bright horns, key change, and passionate verses on “Lady, You Shot Me” certainly feel an exercise in sincerity and love for the sounds of soul. Even though being born in modern times has essentially kept him from being a part of soul, soul is clearly a part of him. Enjoy!

Har Mar Superstar’s new album, Bye Bye 17, is out now on Cult Records.
