It’s 2013, and if you’re into underground metal, you’ve probably heard a few dozen atmospheric black metal bands by now. And while I’m not saying the one I’m about to show you is breaking the mold in any radical way, this tune from their forthcoming album is pretty sweet.
Sannhet’s “Absecon Isle” has that modern black metal atmosphere and sound, but comes through with a straightforward post-rock structure. The roller coaster-style climaxes come one after another after tense buildups of black beats and speedily strummed guitar chords.
Look for Sannhet’s new album on Feb. 19th via Sacrament Music.
