Despite extreme metal’s noisy nature, there’s a surprising lack of artists making it who openly embrace noise as a compositional tool. If anything, noise is simply just a by-product of making such uncompromising music.
However, that’s not the case with Venowl. The project’s music isn’t complete noise, but it is a focus on this new, 22-minute track titled “Gnawed Gristle and Bone.” Not only does the track show off some clear sludge and doom metal influences, but walls of distortion, feedback, and blood-curdling shrieks are key ingredients as well. It should be no surprise that Mories of Gnaw Their Tongues mastered this thing. Give a listen, get shocked.
