With some wild, stringy guitars combined with some faux English vocals and a heavy atmosphere, China’s Stalin Gardens have a pretty impenetrable and tortured post-punk album on their hands with Shanghai Void. The band rips through the nine tracks on this new album with the dissonant, narrated swagger of the Fall and the artistically informed depression of Joy Division.
