The June Brides were quite notable for a minute in the 80s. Early adopters of an jangly guitar tone that is very prevalent in modern underground music, the Brides have a good chance at getting into the blogosphere with this bit of new material, “A January Moon.” Tt’s an indie rock song at heart featuring some bouncy drums, but it adds in elements of surf and even some Smashing Pumpkins-esque effects in the latter third. It’s an easy listen, and should fit right in with the Slumberland Records roster, which is where the band is dropping its next album, Moon / Cloud, on June 26th.
