Micachu & The Shapes drop a new track from the experimental music outfit’s forthcoming album, Never. The song “OK” features vocals and a weird, winding synth melody that feel like they could have come from the heyday of psychedelic pop in the 60s; however, there’s a modern noisiness to the instrumental that not only feels fresh, but uniquely Micachu & The Shapes.
Singer, songwriter, and musical oddball Micachu made her full-length debut in 2009 with the album Jewellery, which had some of the most off-kilter pop tunes of that year. I mean, just listen. From the sound of “OK,” we might be heading into even weirder territory with this next album. Let’s see how it pans out.
Look for this new album on Rough Trade on the 23rd of July.
