A track from the forthcoming Doldrums EP. It’s streaming in full on Altered Zones, and it’s looking at a release on December 8th via No Pain In Pop.
I think every music nerd fantasizes about what the future of music holds. I, for one, think about the possibility of music kinda becoming a weird, mutated amalgamation of everything we’ve been listening up until this point. That probably won’t happen–not completely, anyway. Interestingly enough, the music of Doldrums–a.k.a. 21-year-old producer Airick Woodhead–makes that future fantasy a present reality.
The music of Doldrums sounds like, well, everything. On the track “I’m Homesick Sittin’ Up Here In My Satellite” alone sports orchestral brass samples, tribal percussion, and a vocal melody that’s a little jazzy. If you think track is a clash of ideas, you’ve got to tray “Parrot Talk” via the ‘Zones stream.
This EP is gonna get a limited 300-copy release of 12″s, so pre-ordering might be a good idea.
