That Handsome Devil- "Charle's Inferno"

Over the past couple weeks, I’ve gotten some really passionate, enthusiastic requests to review this new album from the Boston, Massachusetts outfit That Handsome Devil.

I’ve been sampling the band’s latest album, The Heart Goes to Heaven, The Head Goes to Hell, but I’m still not sure what to make of it–especially tracks like the one above, “Charle’s Inferno.”

Musically, it sounds like a bastardized version of a Laurie Johnson composition, but that’s kind of the point. It kinda feels like an odd, satirical cartoon. The sounds are a little kitschy, but the lyrics are hilarious, and the vocals fit the story perfectly.

Another thing to take into account with this outfit is that they experiment with numerous genres, so expect shades of hip hop and even jazz as you explore some of the tracks on this album.

Sample a few more tracks from this release here and here.
