A track from the new Shlohmo album, Bad Vibes, which is out now via Friends of Friends. The guy is a L.A. beatsmith who puts together the kind of lo-fi, glitchy hip hop instrumentals that I had almost given up on. Though none of the tracks on Bad Vibes really jump out at me, I’m finding a lotta detail carved into these tracks. The thirteen songs here are extremely calming, and easy to engage with.
The track “Sink” is one of the most understated moments on the album, filling in the percussive gaps with swelling, atmospheric keyboards. With the slow and lazy tempo, the whole think almost sounds like a lullaby.
