With its debut full-length about a year in the past, California’s Weekend is gearing up to release a sophomore album this September via Slumberland records.
If you can recall my review of Weekend’s debut, Sports, the production was pretty hazy and the guitars were really aggressive. The album was somewhat of a refreshing jolt of noise rock for 2010.
On the first track to drop from this new Weekend album, Red, things seem to have been toned down a bit in favor of a little more readability. The haze and noise are being balanced with songwriting and hooks on this one, and it might be a nice change of pace to hear every song on this new LP to follow suit.
Art below, song above. You know the deal.
