It’s 2011. And with numerous bands looking for new ways to modernize and gussy up death metal, I couldn’t be more depressed. Thankfully, Disma keeps things ugly and repulsive on Towards the Megalith.
Featuring vocalist Craig PIllard of Incantation, growls on this LP are frigging blood-curdling. The vocals have a panoramic presence that doesn’t occur on most death metal LPs–and I’m talking about new and old school. The music amplifies that effect, too, with lots of heavy, distorted basslines and crackling guitar riffs.
It’s a mighty death metal album that relives the old days in a big, mountainous way.
