Madlib's 7th Inst. Album This Year | MP3

What am I supposed to say in regards to one of underground hip hop’s most prolific producers releasing one album a month for the entire year? Bring it, mutha.

Madlib’s new collaboration with Guilty Simpson might have left me wanting more, but this latest LP in his series of instrumental works sounds like something the jazz fan in me could get down with–I mean, the title is High Jazz. Any ‘Lib fan knows this guy’s jazzy side from Yesterday’s New Quintet, so anyone specifically attracted to that side of this guy might want to scope this album. Keep in mind, this ain’t big band jazz from the ’40s, and it certainly doesn’t sound like the complicated bebop of the ’50s. This music seems to dabble in the jazz and rock fusions that came out of the ’60s and ’70s. Download a track below:
