tUnE-yArDs – “Water Fountain”

tUnE-yArDs drop an incredibly fun, creative, and colorful video for the track “Water Fountain,” which is one of many cuts that’ll be featured on the band’s next full-length, Nikki Nack. The album is dropping the first week of May via 4AD.

Watch These Psykers Rehearsals

With loads of strange MIDI sound effects, synths, and a live drum kit, the recently formed Psykers are on their way to producing a twisted, enthralling, and electronic monster of some sort. The handful of video rehearsals they’ve pulled together so far on YouTube are pretty impressive. They’ve even put in the effort to grab a few dancers to perform along with their noisy, textured, and groove-laden jams.

The beginning to these videos is the song “Battleship,” and it’s a for an awesomely foreign flavor to it. However, the third and untitled rehearsal video, I think, will grab the attention of either Death Grips or dubstep fans–maybe both. Lightning bolt? Enjoy!

Kindness- “That’s Alright” (Loved)

Kindness is the musical project of Mr. Adam Bainbridge, a producer who hasn’t really been heard from since dropping a cover for the Replacements tune “Swinging Party” in ’09 on Moshi Moshi Records.

Out of nowhere, Bainbridge is back with a set of tunes that embrace the new wave, electro funk, and synth pop sensibilities of the 1980s. The guy seems to be equal parts Prince, David Byrne, and Ariel Pink, too.

Though the style of music the above track indulges in has been announced dead long ago–and nearly every artist looking to revive it has been met with some cynicism–the composition of this song is what hits me hardest. The opening horn and synth interlude is stunning. It’s chilling. It sets an epic tone for what’s ultimately just a pop tune, but first impressions are everything.

Kindness’ new album is titled World, You Need a Change of Mind.

Young Fathers- “Sister”

Young Fathers drops a video for the track “Sister,” which comes off the UK Trio’s new mixtape, TAPE ONE. I gave the tape a glowing review here, and download a copy of the tape here. Enjoy the visuals!
