The Northern Hemisphere might have to endure a few more months of tepid spring, but at least we have Brooklyn garage popper Fletcher C. Johnson to get the blogosphere in that summer state of mind. On “Messin’ Up My Mind” his debut single for White Iris, Johnson and his band recall the best of the 60′s garage pop that preceded him, complete with that ’60s guitar tone and a driving rhythm of handclaps, tambourine, and drums. With a ridiculously catchy two line chorus (“Must have been messin’ up my mind / Must have been messin’ up my hair”) the track is sure to get plenty of spins on those lazy summer drives.
The “Messin’ Up My Mind” single by Fletcher C. Johnson is available for pre-order on White Iris’ Facebook page.
Coming out in April on White Iris, here’s the new Fidlar 7″, DIYDUI. These guys are a LA band looking for some bottles to break and weed to smoke. Maybe a couch to lay on for a while, too. Definitely something to help Black Lips or Natural Child fans kick spring into high gear. Be on the lookout for some surf rock reverb, pounding guitars, and a load of attitude.
