Tomahawk – “Oddfellows”

Tomahawk drops a strange new video for the title track off it’s new full-length album, Oddfellows. Video effects are employed to Mike Patton and company to make weird, subtle edits to their faces and bodies. It’s a pretty weird visual experience.

Tomahawk – Oddfellows

Mike Patton and company make Oddfellows a step back toward their experimental and alternative rock sound, abandoning the Native American music influences that made Anonymous such a strangely spicy album. However, it’s still a pretty odd, catchy collection of tracks–with a few undeniable potholes, unfortunately.

Tomahawk – “Oddfellows”

Though Mike Patton’s project Tomahawk hasn’t seen the light of day in six years, their new LP Oddfellows is scheduled to be released on January 29th. Expect another onslaught of some of the strangest alt-rock and alt-metal this side of the Melvins. If this title track is any indicator of where things are going to be headed on this record, expect a flurry of impressive fretboard wizardry from guitarist Duane Denison–of The Jesus Lizard fame–a strong sense of groove, and plenty of Patton’s trademark vocal work. This could very well end up being one of the most intriguing albums of the year, so get pumped! This song is pretty awesome.
