Teeel is the solo effort of Jim Smith. The analog synths and rigid drum machines on his latest album, Amulet, are anything but contemporary, but reviving “dead” sounds is pretty en vogue these days. At this point, I’ve lost all grip of what’s new and what isn’t.
After cruising through most of the tracks here, this thing definitely feels like a much-needed fusion between the sounds of Toro Y Moi and New Order–but that’s just one man’s opinion. Stream the whole thing below, and download the opening track for free right here.
