Since the crash, all I've seen is July Talk (3rd time this year, vids coming) and some band called Dilly Dally and Sandman Viper Command on Boxing Day (Dec 26th for the Americans).

SVC was not impressing me during the first half of the set, but then they started to play more aggressive and uptempo and it was starting to work.

Dilly Dally... Man I dunno. Shoegazey. Lead vocalist is.. umm.. not much of a singer. But she can strum. Rhythm section was fairly solid though. The highlight being their drummer. Of the three acts that night, he had the most work to do. The band all decided to wear bad sweaters. Lead Vocalist too the win for the cheapest ones. Some lame silk screened deer on a sweat shirt and then "you thought the deer was cool", off that came to reveal a shirt with lightening and a big tigers head on it. Gold.

July Talk was great again as usual. Played 3 new songs. Leah did her usual layer peeling thing throughout the set. The house drum kit was a bronze/gold metallic and she was wearing a bronze/gold dress, before disrobing she said "I feel embarassed, I'm wearing the same outfit as the drum kit". Ahh so cute. Anyhow I'll have to listen to some of the new tracks isolated from the rest of the set to see if they've decided on a sound. Then again, I'm so used to their album (recorded and live) that none of it stands out as odd to me anymore.

I should be going to see Shigeto, Motem and BBNG tonight but I dunno if I can convince myself to go by myself (my concert going partner is out of town). Roads could be better too. Hrm...

anyhow, always psyched when he likes a hardcore album this much. I haven't listened to it a lot since the first time, but I'll be sure to get on it a little more

- Do not post links, do not do not do not post links. Its our own fault if we choose to download these albums from our respective torrent and file sharing websites, but we should not bring down the forum with us. Keep Anthony out of this!
- If the leak is in 320 or less, please let us know. A lot of people on here seem to be audiophiles and as thus a 192kbps rip of the new Atoms for Peace record might not be ideal. If it's in v0 then it's fine, just tell us it's leaked.

I'll start, due to @introsounds askin'.

My problem is confidence, not confidence in talking to people, but self confidence.

I hate myself and I feel people hate me, no matter what they say. I feel people just take pity on me as a person and just say "Oh it's so good to see you, Nick" or whatever they say just so they don't look like jerks.
Even though I know I'm a funny dude, I've got qualities that people probably would like in a person. Qualities which a girl would like, I'll admit it, I'm nearly 21 and I've never had sex or a freakin' girlfriend. I can talk to girls and I've been offered sex I just don't feel that I'm worth their time or their attention. Not that this is a huge problem but still, its not the easiest thing to admit.
I just don't feel I'm worth anyones time or attention.

It's this constant nagging thing in the back of my head which is like "No one likes you, you're worthless and you have no confidence."

which leads into the second problem.

I know some of you guys probably have met a girl where it's like "This is the perfect girl, I'm not gonna find a better girl. Perfect music taste, film taste, she's actually funny, not the kind of 'Oh you're so funny I'm laughing at your jokes because I wanna get into your pants' kinda funny, actually makes me laugh kinda funny, and we both understand each other on some sort of weird level which I've connected with only a handful of people, most of them on the net"
But I blew it, it's been over a year since I met her and even though she has never called me a friend persay, I feel I have missed my chance.

I don't feel I'm gonna get better than this girl so it's like, why even bother.

worst part is I was talking to her friend and her friend told me that this girl actually did like me back, but that was nearly 6 months ago, she's probably moved on, and I should too. But I can't.

well that's my shit, and the reason why I occasionally just make really downer type posts.

I've Got an Ethical Question, You Guys

I have no clue why, but infamous Dirty South rapper C-Murder randomly popped into my head today. For those unaware, the first entry of his Wikipedia entry is both hilarious and informative.

"Corey Miller (born March 9, 1971), better known by his stage name C-Murder, is an American rapper and actor who is now serving life in prison for murder."

Despite his hilariously stupid name and, from what I remember from when I first heard about him as a curious fourteen-year-old, subpar rapping ability, the dude has managed to move an impressive amount of records. According to Wikipedia, his 1998 debut Life or Death has achieved platinum status and his 1999 followup Bossalinie has reached gold.

So, why am I bringing this up? Well, it turns out his official Twitter account (@iamcmurder) lists a mailing address to contact him. Louisiana State Penitentiary no less!

Here's my ethical dilemma: Should I write to this guy? As I'm sure I've confessed, serial killers kind of fascinate me. I have no intention of mocking the guy or even bringing up the murder, hell, I don't even know what I'd ask him. All I know is that I'm infinitely curious what a letter from this guy is like.

Should I pull the trigger?

Oops. Poor choice of words. (This last bit is a joke by the way. Like I said, I'm not going to mock or try to pick a fight with the guy.)

We already have a thread dedicated to music news, but I thought we could use one for the broader spectrum of news. I feel bad posting heavy/political stuff in "Random Fucking Thoughts" because I read that thread not for serious discourse, but for the lulz.

The Chicago Public School District Has Announced the Closure of 54 Schools. (via NPR)

The school district says it will save $560 million over the next decade. But Knowles says no city in the country has made changes of this magnitude in one year. He says one of the biggest challenges for Chicago will be whether the children will go to better schools. Another is whether school closures will put children's safety at risk.

Many of the schools are in high-crime areas where gang violence is common. While the school district plans to have community patrols to help students get to their new locations, the Rev. Paul Jakes says it will be dangerous for plenty of kids traveling through competing gang turf.

"We're coming to say that if any child's life is lost, that the blood of that child is on the hands of Mayor Rahm Emanuel," he says.

While I've never been to the Windy City, everything I read about it makes it seem like it's on a massive decline. I mean, just last month a mother lost her fourth child to gun violence.
