Last week during its show at Toronto’s Opera House, Sun Kil Moon roused the crowd with this impromptu song that straight up ethers The Ottawa Bluesfest (and the city in general). Kozelek and company loosely based the composition on “Dream Police” by Cheap Trick, whose members had a disastrous experience at the festival in 2011 when the main stage collapsed and injured three people during their set.
Kozelek also takes aim at the Ottawa CityFolk Festival after a promoter apparently rubbed him the wrong way and led to the cancellation of Sun Kil Moon’s performance there this year. Not to mention the whole War on Drugs controversy that went down at last year’s Ottawa Folk Festival – clearly Ottawa and Mark Kozelek are oil and water. To be honest, it makes for a kinda fun song… Sorry, Ottawans; we still love you.
What do you think?
