Nice to see a review of this, I enjoy the emo-esque yet technical guitar work, I think its a bit more controlled on this record. Six Gallery’s Breakthroughs in Modern Art is along the same lines as these guys, a lot less mathy though I’d say.

I am liking the new album.. not as much as their previous ep, “Adventure, Stamina & Anger”. The previous singer had more character, but Henry Tremain fits in perfectly with the band. I would love to see you review a Rolo Tomassi album. They released Astraea recently, but it would be nice to see you review one or both of their previous albums as well!

Just stopped by to see what you thought about this album. It’s strange you did the entire review without calling out the fact that a lot the awesome guitar work is taken directly from bands like The Owls, Make Believe, Ghost and Vodka, and American Football. They do make them their own with a different context and song structures, but some of the riffs I can point to specific songs where the same riff is taken from. Now what I do like about them, is as you kind of said, they bring this math rock style into a form that is easier to listen to and put more appealing vocals for the masses. Overall I want to hate them for ripping off my favorite bands, but cant because I think they’ll put this great style of music into the ears of more people.
